April 2022 - Quarry Station Senior Apartments is a newly rehabilitated independent senior apartment community in the heart of historic Old Town Manassas. The community consists of 79 newly renovated affordable homes that were designed specifically to improve both environmental and physical sustainability, modernize unit amenities, and improve safety for residents. The rehabilitation of the community includes the addition of eight homes with features that support residents with disabilities.
Located in the downtown area of Manassas, Quarry Station Senior Apartments is ideally placed, surrounded by single-family homes and a shopping center with a grocery store and many other necessities located within a mile. Onsite amenities at Quarry Station have made the community not just a place to live, but a place to call home, including a community arts and crafts room, library and computer room, game room, access to free Wi-Fi, picnic area, and even an onsite salon. Residents can work with an onsite Service Coordinator to assist with fulfilling their everyday needs. Renovations also include new emergency call buttons to increase overall safety measures in the community. Among other upgrades to the development are improved heating and cooling systems, landscaping, high-speed internet, cabinets, counters, and a new roof.
VCDC provided an investment of $8,275,012 in LIHTC (Low Income Housing Tax Credit) equity through VCDC Equity Fund 26. VCDC partner and developer of Quarry Station, Wesley Housing Development Corporation of Northern Virginia, has collaborated with VCDC on communities including Culpepper Garden Apartments, Knightsbridge Apartments, and Whitefield Commons. Wesley was formed in 1974 to address the growing need for decent and affordable housing in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC area. Their mission is to employ a comprehensive approach to housing that provides a range of services to empower residents. Named one of the top 50 affordable housing developers in the country, they have developed 26 communities in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC area, with more than 1,800 units providing homes for over 3,300 residents.
